John Tyler is a Senior Technical Product Manager, most recently working on cloud data infrastructure and platform engineering. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and has a Master of Science in Business Analytics from New York University's Stern School of Business, where he collaborated with four other students on state legislative campaign fundraising in the United States using applied data science to better understand and expand campaign fundraising. Previously, John worked for a utility services provider leading the development and launch of utility management field, data, and software solutions for multifamily property managers and residents. Until December 2022, he held a Certified Energy Auditor in training license issued by the Association of Energy Engineers. He started his career in the Ohio House of Representatives, responsible for media, constituent casework, and worked extensively on state budgets and legislative policy issues spanning a number of committees, including: Higher Education, Finance, Health & Aging, Public Utilities, and Commerce, Labor & Technology, among others. John has consulted independently for state legislative political campaigns, state and national political parties, and progressive political organizations— helping their data directors, field organizers, product managers, and engineering teams build better data products. He attended New Organizing Institute's 2014 data bootcamp for progressive organizers in Washington D.C. Outside of work, John follows Major League Baseball through spreadsheets, while cutting down clear ice for his home bar program, and traveling by way of either hiking shoes and a tent or bartender recommendation.
